As some readers may know, Paula Guillette is GEOKON’s Billing Coordinator, an important Accounting function and one that is far more involved than the title suggests. Paula joined GEOKON 11 years ago as an accounting assistant, then administered collections and credits before assuming her current duties where she processes all invoices for customer orders, freight charges, and rental equipment.

International shipments represent a significant part of GEOKON’s business and often require specific documentation and coordination of shipment logistics with freight forwarders, trucking companies and couriers, as well as direct communication with customers. Differences in culture, language, and protocol must be deftly navigated on a daily basis.

Luckily for GEOKON, Paula’s prior experience helps her approach these challenges and tasks with patience and professionalism. She was a Regional Director for Habitat for Humanity in Zaire for a number of projects and worked as the Bursar for an international school in Benin, as well as teaching grades 1-3 for a year while there.

She enjoys the variety that comes with her job at GEOKON and appreciates the opportunity to work for a company that gives generously to a long list of worthy fund-raising efforts in the region. Paula coordinates donations from GEOKON employees for an annual “Holiday Basket” program for local families in need, and the company is very proud to sponsor her upcoming trip to Jacmel, Haiti in February 2013 as part of local volunteer initiative to help with light construction projects and work with various children’s groups. Haiti continues its slow and difficult recovery from a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in 2010 and more recently Hurricane Sandy, where it caused damage a week before hitting the northeast United States. She notes that the process of rebuilding Haiti’s infrastructure is a long one and the need for volunteers is ever-present.

Paula and her husband live in Lebanon, NH and she has three grown children, the youngest currently in college. We are fortunate to have Paula as part of the GEOKON team.
